Project Overview

HatchWNC, a program of the Hatch Foundation, is a nonprofit organization supporting early-stage founders across Western North Carolina through mentorship, education, events, and community connection. Formerly known as Hatch Innovation Hub, the organization evolved to create a clearer identity aligned with its mission and regional focus.

As part of my collaboration with HatchWNC, I created strategic marketing content, including promotional campaigns, founder stories, event photography, and feature articles, to strengthen community engagement and amplify the impact of key programs.

The Challenge

As Hatch is in the process of evolving into HatchWNC, one ongoing challenge has been clarifying its identity within the local community. Because of the similarity in naming and overlapping visibility in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, there has been frequent confusion between HatchWNC and Hatch Coworking, despite the organizations serving different roles and operating as separate entities.

This made clear communication and brand consistency especially important, both in promotional materials and event storytelling. Event content needed not only to generate excitement and engagement, but also reinforce HatchWNC’s identity as a nonprofit focused on founder support, mentorship, and community-building across Western North Carolina.

The Outcome

Through strategic event promotion, photography, and founder storytelling, HatchWNC developed a growing library of marketing assets that extended the impact of its programs well beyond event day. The content helped increase awareness, celebrate the entrepreneurial community, support fundraising initiatives, and communicate the organization's impact to founders, sponsors, donors, and grant partners.

Project Highlights

  • Event Promotion & Audience Engagement

Every successful event begins long before attendees arrive. Through strategic promotional marketing, I helped build awareness, generate excitement, communicate key event details, and encourage participation across multiple channels.

Each campaign was designed to strengthen community engagement while reinforcing HatchWNC's mission and impact.

  • HatchThis: Building Entrepreneurial Momentum

Every successful entrepreneurial program begins long before participants gather. Through strategic promotional marketing, I helped build awareness, generate excitement, communicate key program details, and encourage participation across multiple channels. The campaign supported HatchWNC's flagship annual HatchThis event while reinforcing its mission of helping entrepreneurs connect, collaborate, and grow.

  • Supporting the HatchThis Experience

Marketing continued throughout the program by supporting participant communications, recognizing sponsors, and extending the impact of HatchThis beyond the event itself. From registration to post-event storytelling, content highlighted the collaborative community that helps entrepreneurs develop and present their ideas.

  • Founder Storytelling

Founder interviews became one of the most impactful aspects of this collaboration. Through feature articles highlighting entrepreneurs and community leaders, I created engaging content that strengthened community connections while supporting HatchWNC's website, newsletters, social media, and promotional marketing.

  • Event Photography

Event photography focused on capturing authentic moments that reflected the energy, collaboration, and innovation of the entrepreneurial community. From keynote speakers and founder pitches to networking conversations and celebrations, these images became valuable marketing assets used across websites, social media, email campaigns, and future event promotions.

  • Building Community Through Storytelling

From promotional campaigns and event coverage to founder interviews and community photography, each piece of content worked together to extend the impact of HatchWNC's programs beyond event day while strengthening relationships with founders, partners, sponsors, and supporters.

Strong events start long before the doors open.

Whether promoting a networking event, workshop, or flagship program like HatchThis, successful event marketing requires a coordinated strategy that informs, engages, and builds momentum. By creating consistent promotional campaigns and attendee communications, I helped turn individual events into experiences that strengthened HatchWNC's visibility and community impact.

This work included:

  • Speaker announcements
  • Schedule and event graphics
  • Countdown campaigns
  • Ticket and registration promotion
  • Sponsor recognition
  • Founder spotlights
  • Event reminder campaigns
  • Identifying and implementing Zeffy, a no-fee ticketing and fundraising platform that helped reduce transaction costs and maximize revenue for the nonprofit.
